A Randomness Test for Stable Data
Authors
Abstract:
In this paper, we propose a new method for checking randomness of non-Gaussian stable data based on a characterization result. This method is more sensitive with respect to non-random data compared to the well-known non-parametric randomness tests.

Miscellanea Rayleigh Test for Randomness of Circular Data
Critical values of the,Rayleigh test for testing whether the population of circular data from which a sample is drawn differs from randomness are sometimes presented in an inconvenient form (Batschelet, 1981) which makes it necessary to interpolate to obtain a value at a chosen probability level. Even when the values are presented at fixed probability levels (Mardia, 1972) it can be useful for ...
full textA New Randomness Test for Bit Sequences
Generating sequences of random numbers or bits is a necessity in many situations (cryptography, modeling, simulations, etc. . .). Those sequences must be random in the sense that their behavior should be unpredictable. For example, the security of many cryptographic systems depends on the generation of unpredictable values to be used as keys. Since randomness is related to the unpredictable pro...

AMS subject classifications: 62G10 62G20 62H25 a b s t r a c t Functional panels are collections of functional time series, and arise often in the study of high frequency multivariate data. We develop a portmanteau style test to determine if the cross-sections of such a panel are independent and identically distributed. Our framework allows the number of functional projections and/or the number...
full textA statistical test for outlier identification in data envelopment analysis
In the use of peer group data to assess individual, typical or best practice performance, the effective detection of outliers is critical for achieving useful results. In these ‘‘deterministic’’ frontier models, statistical theory is now mostly available. This paper deals with the statistical pared sample method and its capability of detecting outliers in data envelopment analysis. In the prese...
full textUniversal test for Hippocratic randomness
Hippocratic randomness is defined in a similar way to Martin-Löf randomness, however it does not assume computability of the probability and the existence of universal test is not assured. We introduce the notion of approximation of probability and show the existence of the universal test (Levin-Schnorr theorem) for Hippocratic randomness when the logarithm of the probability is approximated wi...
